Valentine Day Workshop at IYISF

Backbending postures encourage a sense of openness; they open out the chest, abdomen, pelvic & groin region, stimulate the central nervous system, boost the immune system, realign and increase mobility in the spinal column, and strengthen and stretch the legs.They are liberating and energizing as they release tension and blocked energy. Psychologically, backbends teach us to be more patient with ourselves and others. On an energetic level backbends allow for deep heart opening.

We will practice a variety of preparation poses leading into backbends utilizing supports (such as the chair) in ways so that everyone can experience the freedom and lightheartedness that the practice of these poses bring. This workshop is suitable for students who have attended yoga classes regularly for at least six months.
